Hereditary Cancer
Test Name: Mismatch Repair Proteins Immunohistochemistry
Test Description:This test is used to screen patients suspected to have an inherited cancer syndromes involving the DNA mismatch repair (MMR) process, such as Hereditary Non-Polyposis Colorectal Cancer (HNPCC / Lynch Syndrome) or confirm a clinical diagnosis. This test evaluates the expression of mismatch repair (MMR) proteins in tumor tissue by immunohistochemical (IHC) staining; absence of expression (no staining) for a particular protein suggests a molecular defect responsible for mismatch repair deficiency.
Methodology:Immunohistochemistry using the following antibodies - MLH, MSH2, MSH6 and PMS

Specimen Requirements:FFPE Slide(s): 1 H&E stained slide and 10 unstained 10um thick FFPE slides (non-charged, non-coated) containing adequate amounts of tumor to be analyzed. Air dry. Do not oven dry. Please include a copy of corresponding surgical pathology report FFPE Block: Paraffin-embedded, formalin-fixed tissue block. Please include a copy of corresponding surgical pathology report
